About me
Artist by calling, art historian by training, stay-at-home mom by choice, completely obsessed with yarn. The colors, the textures, the scents, the infinite possibilities within each skein ...I learned to crochet from my grandma when I was five, but for some strange reason I could never understand the whole 'two needles at the same time' idea when she tried to teach me how to knit. Wishing for one-of-a-kind baby sweaters after my first son was born led me to give the sticks and string one more chance. I picked up a knitting book, and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.
I am often inspired by the beauty of natural world, be it the petals of a single flower, the climbing vines of an ivy plant or even the clear expanse of the sky. Consequently my designs tend to reflect natural flowing shapes rather than strictly geometric forms.
I have an extensive background in studio arts and art history which continues to serve as a source of endless inspiration. My fashion design studies have also proven invaluable when I started knitting and designing knits nearly eight years ago, especially the areas of garment fitting and construction and fiber science.
